Ancaster Legacy Football Club is committed to the training and development of qualified Match Officials (Referees). As a club we are proud of the Zero Tolerance Policy and positive environment for our Match Officials.

We are proud to be among the biggest employers for the youth of the Ancaster community since the club’s inception.

MATCH OFFICIAL REGISTRATION PROCESS

Please view the flowchart below and/or read the subsequent instructions to learn how to register as a Match Official with ALFC.

 

ARE YOU A NEW MATCH OFFICIAL?

Please head to https://www.ontariosoccer.net/referee-clinics and register for the appropriate course:

  • Officials aged 12 and 13 as of March 31st need to take the Small Sided course;
  • Officials aged 14 and older as of March 31st need to take the Entry Level course.

ARE YOU A RETURNING OFFICIAL?

Your instructions depend on your age and status:

  • If you were 13 as of March 31st, and took the Small Sided course last year, you need only to register.
  • If you are 14 or older as of March 31st, and have not yet taken the Entry Level course, you will need to go to https://www.ontariosoccer.net/referee-clinics and register for the Entry Level course.
  • If you are 14 or older as of March 31st, and have taken the Entry Level course, you need only to register.

To register as a returning official, log into your account at RefCentre.com, and click “Registration”. You will be required to take an Evaluation Assessment, which will take less than an hour; you can then subsequently register as a Match Official. Please ensure that under Preferences, and then Clubs, you have Ancaster selected.

FOR ALL OFFICIALS – NEW & RETURNING

You will need to register as a Match Official on PowerUp, as we do all of our referee assignment through this platform. To register on PowerUp:

  1. Head to https://ancastersoccer.powerupsports.com/
  2. If you have registered with our Club as a player, coach or match official previously, please log into your account; otherwise, create a new account. Please provide an email address for the Match Official; do not use a parental email.
  3. Click “Volunteer Now”
  4. Click “Game Official Application” and complete the information requested for the 2024-25 Season Game Official Application. Disregard the question regarding the police check; it is not required for Match Officials.

IMPORTANT NOTES

  • Ancaster Legacy FC does not guarantee any minimum number of games for our Match Officials; games are assigned progressively based on ability, tardiness, communication, and performance. With that being said, all registered Match Officials will be given opportunity to demonstrate their ability, and repeated assignments will come with effort, attendance and professionalism.
  • Ancaster Legacy FC expects to be able to communicate with its officials; if the Match Official does not possess their own email address, it is expected that they are the ones responding from whatever email address is given.
  • Match Officials are contractors; Ancaster Legacy FC reserves the right to terminate the services of any Match Official at any time.
  • Ancaster Legacy FC does not compensate its officials for courses, equipment or uniforms, but may from time to time make available equipment or uniforms, either for free or for payment at its discretion.
