Chris Markou brings a unique blend of high-performance sport, business leadership, and community-focused development to his role as Director of Operations & Community Engagement for Ancaster Legacy FC. A Canada Soccer C License Coach and Ontario Soccer Futsal Certified Coach, Chris has a proven track record of guiding young athletes to excel both on and off the field.

As Head Coach of the McMaster University Men’s Soccer Program, Chris led the team to notable achievements, including the 2022 OUA Championship and a U SPORTS National Final appearance. His dedication to excellence has also been recognized through his induction into the McMaster Men’s Soccer Hall of Fame as a player. Prior to his coaching career, Chris competed professionally with the Hamilton Steelers (CSL), further cementing his deep connection to the game.

Off the pitch, Chris combines his passion for sport, education, and business to create athlete-centric environments that foster personal growth, teamwork, and performance. His leadership experience extends beyond soccer as Program Director of FutbolPlus Performance and Training, also leveraging his expertise in investment and financial planning from his time at BMO and RBC.

Chris’s professional strengths include business development, relationship and community building, leadership/team development, and strategic goal planning and execution. His commitment to fostering strong community connections and delivering programs that inspire the next generation of athletes makes him a driving force behind Ancaster Legacy FC’s growth and success.

Technical Director

 Danny Burnett

As Technical Director for Ancaster Legacy FC, Danny Burnett oversees all on-field technical programming, serving as the primary point of contact for coaches regarding curriculum, tactical expectations, code of conduct, and on-field standards. He brings a wealth of experience in both player and coach development, ensuring that ALFC’s technical approach reflects the highest standards of the game.

Danny joins ALFC after five years with the Burlington Bayhawks, where he managed programming and also coached in the Ontario Player Development League (OPDL), at Regional level and gained League1 Ontario coaching experience.

A UEFA B Licence and Canada Soccer B Licence holder, Danny has worked with players across all stages of development, from grassroots to elite, with a focus on technical excellence, tactical awareness, and character building.

With over a decade in coaching and soccer operations, Danny is committed to staying at the forefront of modern coaching methodologies and performance analysis. His leadership helps create an environment where both players and coaches can thrive, supporting ALFC’s mission to develop confident, skilled, and well-rounded athletes.

Lead Performance Coach

Jonathan Meikle

As Lead Performance Coach at Ancaster Legacy FC, Jonathan Meikle designs and oversees all speed, agility, quickness, and strength & conditioning programming, ensuring athletes train with purpose, efficiency, and intent.

Since joining the club in July 2025, he has applied his expertise in human anatomy and exercise physiology to help ALFC athletes elevate their performance on the pitch.

In addition to his role with ALFC, Jonathan continues to gain valuable experience in the sports performance field. He has worked with the Brock Women’s Basketball team under their head performance coach and served as a sports medicine intern with the Brock Men’s Basketball team, where he developed hands-on skills in injury prevention, acute care, and first aid.

Jonathan is a CSEP-Certified Personal Trainer and is currently completing his Bachelor of Science in Kinesiology at Brock University. His mission with ALFC is to provide elite-level performance training to youth athletes—helping them move with greater efficiency, perform at a higher level, and grow both physically and mentally as soccer players.
